$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA’s CreatINg Places initiative

Winchester, Ind. (February 15, 2023) – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) today launched a crowdfunding campaign for a new place for Winchester residents to cool off this summer. If this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by April 1, 2023, the project led by the City of Winchester will receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

“This splash pad is a great example of a community seeing a need and working together to enhance an existing space,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch. “It’s important to integrate inclusive spaces for children of all ages to enjoy for years to come.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to create an inclusive outdoor space and water experience for families and individuals in Randolph County and surrounding areas to enjoy. The project will consist of a new splash pad adjacent to the existing Goodrich pool and bathhouse facilities, including a concrete deck with water features and ground sprays, above ground covered splash pad mechanical equipment, and a shade structure with picnic tables.

“The City of Winchester is known for its high quality of life,” commented Winchester Mayor Bob McCoy, “and an inclusive splash pad is a natural addition to our beautiful park system.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $7.5 million in public funds and an additional $6.3 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply.

Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
