The Winchester Police Department has one full-time animal control/code enforcement officer. The Animal Control Officer enforces all animal-related issues and also enforces City of Winchester ordinances.

The Winchester Animal Control and Rescue Shelter has nice pets ready for adoption. The goal of the shelter is to find loving homes for all adoptable pets. Help support our efforts and give one of these beautiful animals a place to call home.

Adoption Fees are as follows:

Dogs: $20.00

Cats: $10.00

NOTES ABOUT ADOPTIONS

The Winchester Animal Control and Rescue Shelter handles so many stray animals it is almost impossible to maintain the pets that are available from day to day. If your local it is easier to visit the shelter at 900 North West Street Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm to see what is available.

If you’re looking for a particular type of animal contact the shelter and they will place your name on a list and contact you when an animal matching what you want comes in. The Winchester Animal Control & Rescue Shelter has come a long way to helping lost, abandoned, neglected, and stray animals find homes.

Pet Micro-Chipping

You never have to worry about losing your pet ever. The Winchester Animal Control and Rescue Division offers Pet Micro-Chipping for only $15. With this advanced technology if your pet loses his way home and is rescued the implanted micro-chip will have all the pet’s information on it to ensure the pet is returned to its’ rightful owner.
