City Court Gradual Re-opening to Public

Governor Holcomb announced on Friday that Indiana will begin a gradual re-opening in light of the progress of COVID-19. The State of Indiana is pushing toward a gradual re-opening so that Indiana can continue to function while still being aware of the still current threat of COVID-19. To this end, the Winchester City Court has implemented the following update to court policy.

Consistent with Winchester City Policy, the court will only hold in-person hearings if no other arrangements can be made. If you have a hearing scheduled between May 11 and June 11, contact the court prior to your hearing to see if your presence is required (mandatory hearings, contested trials, etc). If you are scheduled for a hearing and have a valid reason to be susceptible to COVID-19 (e.g., you were a caretaker or intimate partner of someone suffering from COVID-19, have a compromised immune system, or were under quarantine (self-imposed or otherwise) due to COVID-19, advise the court of your situation and the court will reschedule you without penalty.

Appearances by telephone will be available if needed.

All online and distance payment services will remain open.

Due to the wide array of payment and hearing options available, if you fail to contact the court for hearings scheduled from May 11-June 11, you may be assessed a late fee or a license suspension. The imposition of Default Judgments will continue to be paused at least for hearings scheduled during this time frame.

If you are unsure of when your court date is scheduled for, feel free to contact the court at (765) 584-9331 and follow the menu options for the city court clerk.
